COVID-19 deprived the other patients from accessing their health systems: alternative strategies needed
At the beginning of the spread of the pandemic everyone rushed to try to stop it and the numbers of the viral infection exhausted the health systems of most countries. Now and after months of the pandemic it resulted in deprivation of the other patients from the need of the health services such as patients with cancer, chronic diseases, surgery, bone marrow, vaccinations, children welfare, and so on. There is fear from COVID inside the health centers and hospitals and that people will not take their children for vaccinations resulted in re-emerging of the killer diseases such as Measles, whooping cough, polio and others which are more dangerous than COVID-19. It is now 4 months which is long time for vaccines and for certain conditions like cancers.
As COVID-19 declining and it will decline more as per the nature of any pandemics due to many factors like immunity and the virus become weaker, the health systems like hospitals should be brought back to its normal non-COVID work to avoid more deprivations. The remaining COVID patients more than 85% of them are stable and only needing few days to turn negative and those can go for isolation in hotels or other centers converted into isolation centers. Those who need ICU can be admitted into specific COVID centers.
By this governments will free their major health system so as to normalize it for other patients in desperate need. Otherwise spreading the COVID work everywhere will deprive other patients and more death may result from such deprivation, lack of vaccinations and the killer diseases. The health authorities should take this warning seriously to avoid re-emergence of the killer diseases. Some of them are already emerging like measles.
It is simply take COVID work into hotels centers and ICU specific centers and bring back other health facilities back to non-COVID normal work to maintain normal health system and healthier communities.
